Fiverr.com is the biggest and most popular freelance marketplace. After signing up, you have the option to either become a seller or a buyer.
Unlike a few other freelance marketplaces, on Fiverr, you don’t have to pay for any membership account before you start selling. Fiverr is totally free to use. But before you start selling, there’s a need to create a seller profile. Popularly called a ‘Fiverr gig’.
From a seller perspective:
Freelance sellers are listed according to their star rating and the number of reviews previous buyers left on their profile. The seller profile can include a list of services (Gigs) they offer.
Fiverr has a messaging system that allows clients and sellers to communicate effectively. There is a search-filter system that helps buyers to narrow-search through a list of freelance sellers to get the one that best suits the job at hand
Buyers can easily communicate with sellers without first posting a job. Sellers don’t have to write proposals or submit their resume to win gigs. There are 3 levels for sellers all of which have their individual benefits.
A Fiverr gig is a term commonly used to describe the service you sell on Fiverr. It provides you with the opportunity to showcase your unique talent and inform buyers that you are well and truly capable of completing the service you render.
Since you are mostly dealing with buyers whom you’ve never met before, the only way they can discover your quality is through your gig. That’s why there’s a need to put a lot of details into gig creation.
Is Fiverr Safe? Is Fiverr Good? Can Fiverr Be Trusted?
The answer to all three of these questions is yes, yes and yes! The thought of paying your money upfront worries some people, but rest assured. Fiverr is safe.
First off, know that when you pay your money this does NOT go to the freelancer doing your work straight away. Fiverr holds the payment until you are completely satisfied with the job. If you are NOT happy you can request a refund. All very easy and legit.
Read the Fiverr reviews carefully (and yes, they are all legit and verified) study the seller’s past work and if you’re still unsure, contact the freelancer and bombard them with questions. My experience of Fiverr has always been a positive and professional one and if you follow the above guidelines, Fiverr will be perfect for you.
Revisions in Fiverr is like saying ‘have another go’. Asking your freelancer to do it again until you are happy.
Remember how I told you that the sellers offer different packages? Well, the use of revisions plays a big part in their price bracket. Sellers who charge more will usually offer ‘unlimited revisions’ meaning that you don’t have to accept the finished product (and they don’t get their payment) until you are completely happy.
Every time I have used Fiverr I have opted for unlimited revisions package. Yes, it’s more money but this really is a fabulous feature. Make sure you are clear about this. UNLIMITED revisions mean just that. The freelancer keeps going until you are 100% happy with the product.
Don’t feel bad about sending it back to the freelancer because they haven’t put the comma in the right place on your logo. This is what you are paying for. Be clear about that.
Fiverr is a safe and easy place to find a freelancer. If you need an extra hand, you should definitely give it a try. Personally, I’ve had nothing but positive experiences when hiring through this popular platform.
